Overview

Interactive Cultural Encounters (ICE) is an immersive experience to showcase authentic Ghanaian culture in an engaging way that leaves all participants with a holistic understanding of what it means to be Ghanaian: our culture, our heritage, and everyday living.

Key Objectives

1. To engage all five senses (taste, smell, sight, touch, and hearing) of participants throughout the immersion.

2. To showcase selected parts of our culture: food, clothing, festivals, language, rites, socio-cultural nuances, and games.

3. To connect and reconnect all participants with the rich Ghanaian heritage by telling a compelling story of who we are, where we come from, and why we do the things we do.

The How

We give the participants an exciting bite-size glimpse into the complex, layered adventure of Ghanaian culture in order to fully appreciate it. We welcome people from all the corners of the earth - especially those of African descent who wish to reconnect with their roots.

These are the main sections of the full day experience:

1. Interactive Session: Where we share a piece of who we are and hear from participants as well. We have some activities lined up to explain our culture, history, and heritage by getting them involved. This includes teaching about names, tribes, clothing, ceremonies, etc through an engaging model.

2. Cooking Class: Each participant gets to try their hands on the local utensils - how we made food before fancy technologies were introduced to the locals. From grinding pepper, to pounding fufu - they get the full experience and get to taste the final outcome!
